USS Cole coming home

WAX2000102901 - 29 OCTOBER 2000 - GULF OF ADEN: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole is towed away from the port city of Aden, Yemen, into open sea by the Military Sealift Command ocean-going tug USNS Catawba. A terrorist suicide bomb struck USS Cole on October 12th, 2000, killing 17 crewmembers and injuring 39. Cole will be lifted aboard the Norwegian heavy transport ship M/V Blue Marlin, and transported back to the United States, a trip expected to last approximately five weeks. cc/US NAVY/Don L.
