PITTSBURGH -- The retirement of linebacker Loren Toews leaves just seven players remaining with the Pittsburgh Steelers among those who played on all four of the club's Super Bowl championships.
The Steelers announced Toews' retirement Monday, the first day of their annual spring mini-camp.
Still with the Steelers from the 1970s championship teams are Terry Bradshaw, Larry Brown, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Donnie Shell, John Stallworth and Mike Webster.
Toews, 32, is taking a job in the commercial lending department of Equibank in Pittsburgh, the spokesman said.
Through the end of last season, Toews had played in 57 straight games, the club's second-longest streak behind center Mike Webster's.
During his career, Toews played every linebacker position in both the 3-4 and 4-3 configurations.
The Steelers drafted Toews, a native of Dinuba, Calif., in the eighth round of the 1973 draft out of the University of California.
At the start of his career, Toews played behind the Steelers' great linebacking trio of Andy Russell, Jack Ham and Jack Lambert.
A total of 64 players, including 31 veterans, attended the mini-camp Monday.
Veteran quarterback Terry Bradshaw is scheduled to report Tuesday. His arrival was delayed due to the death of an uncle in his native Shreveport, La.
