LONDON, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Famed British chef and restaurateur Tom Aikens caused quite a stir when he accused a big-spending diner of stealing one of his spoons.

The diner, businesswoman Sarah Roe, who was entertaining prospective clients at Aikens' eatery, had just paid a 536-pound ($320) bill and was preparing to leave when he blocked the doorway and accused her of pilfering a teaspoon.

"My first reaction was just to laugh and say, 'Are you being serious?'" she told the Times of London. "And he said, 'Yes, I am absolutely serious.' So I asked him sarcastically if he wanted to frisk me. I said, 'Do you really think I've come all this way to steal one spoon?'"

Minutes later, a waiter found the spoon on as nearby table. Aikens, noted for temper as well as culinary arts, refused to back down and implied Roc had hidden it there.

She never got an apology and said she'll never go to one of his restaurants again.
