NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Savannah Guthrie will remain a co-anchor with Today.

Sources report NBC News renewed the 43-year-old television host's contract for at least an additional three years. Guthrie joined the morning program as a third-hour co-host in 2011, and famously took over as co-anchor for Ann Curry in 2012.

"It required a delicate touch," she recalled in an interview with the L.A. Times. "It called for someone to come in, put their head down and do the work. I tried to be a credit to the show and not another problem."

Guthrie was well-liked at the network, but failed to make an immediate impression on viewers. Her pregnancy diary on Today helped her connect with the audience, and she and husband Michael Feldman welcomed their first child, daughter Vale, in August 2014.

Guthrie will conduct an exclusive interview with President Barack Obama during the Super Bowl pre-game show Feb. 1. She is expected to continue to take on such large assignments, as she is committed to the program longer than senior co-anchor Matt Lauer.
