Sister of Nick and Aaron Carter dead at 25

NEW YORK, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Singer Leslie Carter, the 25-year-old sister of recording artists Nick and Aaron Carter, has died in upstate New York, her family said.

"Access Hollywood" confirmed her Tuesday death but said no details regarding the cause were immediately available.

Best known as a cast member with her siblings in the reality series "House of Carters" and leader of the band The Other Half, Leslie Carter also recorded the song "Like Wow!" for the 2001 "Shrek" movie soundtrack.

She was married and the mother of an infant daughter at the time of her death.

"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter," the Carter family said in a statement issued to "Access Hollywood" Tuesday night. "We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."

Nick Carter is a member of the Backstreet Boys. Aaron Carter is a solo artist and actor.
