April 20 (UPI) -- Days after Paris firefighters put out a devastating blaze at the Notre-Dame Cathedral, they rushed to extinguish small fires around Place de la Republique set by Yellow Vests protesters demonstrating Saturday against high taxes and economic equality.
Paris police fired tear gas at protesters while bicycles, bins, motorbikes and cars alongside streets were set on fire. One group of protesters stole goods from a sports shop after smashing its front window, The Guardian reported.
