June 10 (UPI) -- Jon Stewart, former host of The Daily Show, will be the first in-studio guest for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when it returns with a live audience to the Ed Sullivan Theater on Monday, CBS announced.

Colbert worked from home and interviewed celebrities remotely for the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"The Late Show has been producing episodes remotely as A Late Show since March 16, 2020, when Colbert became the first late night host to return to the air and broadcast from home, delivering his monologue from his bathtub," a Wednesday press release noted.

"Since then, the show moved its remote production capabilities to South Carolina and then back to the offices of the Ed Sullivan Theater building."

Colbert will chat with celebrities in-person in front of a live, vaccinated audience at the theater on Monday.

In addition to Stewart, Colbert will also welcome comedian Dana Carvey, and Oscar and Grammy-Winning Artist H.E.R.
