BEIJING, July 23 (UPI) -- Police cracked down on foreign men dressed in Spartan warrior costumes, as they marched in a marketing campaign for an organic salad restaurant.
Arrests were made Wednesday after complaints of "disturbing street order" began trickling in, according to a report from The Beijing Youth Daily. Chinese press reported some photos of the male models showed they were shouting in front of a building.
The New York Times reported the police broke up the formation in Beijing's Sanlitun district, the same area where a Uniqlo store has become an overnight attraction after a sex video was filmed in a fitting room last week.
The foreign male models promoting Sweetie Salad were carrying cups filled with greens, while wearing low-cut leather shorts, capes and sandals, TIME reported.
They were also delivering salad lunches to office workers, and even drew the interest of crowds who had gathered to take pictures of their display.
But the unsuspecting warriors came face to face with a skirmish after local police told them to disperse.
Tweeted images showed police officers handcuffing Spartans, and sometimes sitting on top of the men after the models for hire reportedly refused to comply with orders.
People's Daily reported the men ignored several warnings before the police arrest.
