BRISBANE, Australia, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- In a case of touching parental support, an Australian mom took out a classified ad in a show of support for her transgender son.

Yolanda Bogert had a retraction placed in the births section of the Courier-Mail of Queensland, issuing a correction that quickly went viral.

"A retraction - Bogert - In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget Elizabeth Anne as a daughter," the ad read. "He informs us that we were mistaken."

"Oops! Our bad. We would now like to present, our wonderful son - Kai Bogert. Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room."

As the story of Kai Bogert, 19, and his family spread online, they sat down to tell the Courier-Mail that placing the ad was "a no-brainer."

"I needed to show my son I support him 100 percent and wanted to let the world know that," Yolanda Bogert said. "It is all very new to us. Kai just told me a few days ago that he no longer wanted to live as a girl."

She said she had "always known" there was something different about her child, "but it was never really discussed openly."

For his part, Kai Bogert is thrilled to be so warmly embraced in his new identity.

"I am so happy with what she has done. This last week has changed everything for me," Kai said. "I am still me but I am more me than I was a few days ago and feel free."
