NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive for 2014.

The 40-year-old mother of two covers the November issue of the men's magazine in a cleavage-bearing one-piece swimsuit, sporting wavy hair and nude makeup. In the cover story, Cruz refuses to discuss her upcoming movie with Pedro Almodóvar, her relationship with Spanish actor Javier Bardem or her two kids. Yet, author Chris Jones describes her face as containing "no secrets, at least not about her."

In a piece that offers more details on bull fighting than Cruz's life, the Vicky Cristina Barcelona star does reveal that at this point in her life her favorite thing to have is "a plan."

"I've made it hard for me sometimes, especially in my teens and twenties. I had an attraction to drama," she said. "Most of us have that, especially if you are an artist -- you feel like you are tempted to explore the darkness. I could not be less interested now. For me, the most attractive, charming, cool, fun, interesting thing -- how could I call it? A plan."

Cruz is the ninth woman to receive the honor since the magazine kicked off the list in 2004 featuring Angelina Jolie as the Sexiest Woman Alive. Former winners, in order, also include Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson -- who has received the title twice -- Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Kate Beckinsale, Minka Kelly, Rihanna and Mila Kunis.
