Landslide derails train in Italy, 2 workers injured

ANDORA, Italy, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A landslide in northwestern Italy Friday cut off a rail line, caused a derailment and injured two workers on board a train, officials said.

The train was less than one mile away from the station in the town of Andora when it was hit by the landslide, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

The engine and one car were knocked completely off the tracks.

No passengers were injured in the incident, officials said.

Northwest Italy has been hit by torrential rains in recent days that have forced a number of families to evacuate, ANSA said.
