WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Sunday Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius should leave if she can't fix problems plaguing HealthCare.gov.
Glitches in the healthcare.gov website mean many people have been unable to sign up for health insurance through the marketplace. Officials said the website should be in working order by the end of November and that most people should be able to sign up for health insurance by then.
"The President has been poorly served in the implementation of his own signature legislation. So, if somebody doesn't leave, and if there isn't a real restructuring -- not just a 60 day, somebody come in and try to fix it -- then he's missing the point of Management 101, which is these people are to serve him well, and they haven't," Issa said in an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation." "If she cannot reorganize to get the kind of a team in consistently to meet his agenda, then she shouldn't be there."
Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said he would begin issuing subpoenas if the committee can't get more information on its investigation of the plagued website rollout. He said Sebelius should have to explain why she didn't realize it was in trouble, CBS News reported.
"The American people have a right, even if they don't need to use the exchange, to be able to find out what those prices are, and look at them competitively against other opportunities," Issa said.
